Positive objective findings reveal dry coughs, tachycardia, a temperature of 101 deg F, an erythematous pharynx, and bilateral enlarged anterior cervical lymph nodes. Pertinent negative objective findings include absence of adventitious breath sounds, chest or abdominal discomfort, and liver or spleen enlargement.

Pt reports he is not up to date on seasonal flu vaccine and has not received the COVID booster shot.

Marvin Webster is an 18-year-old college student who present with a persistent dry cough, sore throat, headache, and generalized myalgia for 4 days following possible exposure to roommate with cough last week. He has not received his influenza vaccination. Use of Ibuprofen and steam do not alleviate symptoms of sore throat or body aches but do relieve headache. He has a sore throat with 6-8/10 pain and significant myalgia. He denies shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain/heaviness and palpitations. He also denies nasal congestion or postnasal drip.
Upon physical examination, he is hyperthermic at 101F oral temperature and is sinus tachycardic at 108bpm. His pharynx is erythematous and has bilateral anterior cervical adenopathy. He does not experience any difficulty swallowing and his reparations are clear and nonlabored with SpO2 at 98%. He denied nausea, vomiting or diarrhea and his abdomen is soft, nontender and normoactive in all four quadrants.
