You will research the two areas of content assigned to you and compare and contrast them in discussion post. NOTE: A comparison and contrast assignment is not about listing the info regarding each disease separately but rather looking at each disease side by side and discussing the similarities and differences given the categories below. Consider how each patient would actually present to the office. Consider how their history would affect their diagnosis, etc. Evaluation of mastery is focused on the student’s ability to demonstrate specific understanding of how the diagnoses differ and relate to one another. 

Topics of Discussion (All Five Topics Included in Download):

• Benign positional vertigo and Meniere’s disease
• Dementia and delirium
• Trigeminal neuralgia and giant cell arteritis
• Post-concussive syndrome and traumatic brain injury
• Migraine headache and tension headache

Include the following sections:

1. Application of Course Knowledge: Compare and contrast the assigned topics in your initial discussion post. The goal of this assignment goes beyond simply listing information for each disease; it requires a careful examination of both disorders with a thoughtful discussion of both the similarities and the differences of Consider the clinical presentation of each client to the office. Describe their clinical presentation and how their history would impact their diagnosis.

Address each of the following components using your own words:

1. 1. Presentation: Demographics, onset of symptoms, history of present illness, associated risk factors
   2. Pathophysiology: Similarities and differences in pathophysiology
   3. Assessment: Physical assessment techniques, appropriate diagnostic testing
   4. Diagnosis: Additional differential diagnoses to consider, positive findings for each diagnosis
   5. Management: Similarities and differences in pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments, client education, referral, and follow-up care

2. Integration of Evidence: Integrate relevant scholarly sources as defined by program expectations :

   4. Accurately analyze, synthesize, and/or apply principles from evidence with no more than one short quote (15 words or less) for the

3. Engagement in Meaningful Dialogue: Engage peers and faculty by asking questions, and offering new insights, applications, perspectives, information, or implications for

   3. Communicate using respectful, collegial language and terminology appropriate to advanced nursing practice.
4. Professionalism in Communication: Communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation.
5. Reference Citation: Use current APA format to format citations and references and is free of errors.
6. Wednesday Participation Requirement: Provide a substantive response to the graded discussion topic (not a response to a peer or faculty), by Wednesday, 11:59 m. MT of each week.
7. Total Participation Requirement: Provide at least three substantive posts (one to the initial question or topic, one to a student peer, and one to a faculty question) on two different days during the week.
