The patient is a 25-year-old sexually active female presenting with a two -day history of dysuria and burning with urination, associated with urinary frequency, urgency, and yellow vaginal discharge. She reports that these symptoms differ from those of a prior urinary tract infection. The patient has multiple sexual partners, does not use condoms, and the STI status of her partners is unknown. She had a normal STI workup about six months ago and a normal pap smear about four years ago. Did not receive the HPV vaccine. Physical exam is notable for mucopurulent cervical discharge and cervical friability, with no fever, flank pain, or vulvar pain. All other systems are normal.

Associated symptoms include urinary frequency, vaginal bleeding with intercourse. Reports multiple sexual partners and unprotected sex. Lack of HPV vaccine series, former smoker. Pt. states pap smear 4 years ago was normal; now overdue for pap smear. Reports non-odorous vaginal discharge that is yellow and thick. Cervical friability without cervical motion tenderness, fever, or abdominal pain or tenderness noted on physical exam. Mucopurulent vaginal discharge noted on physical exam. No other constitutional, cardiorespiratory, or genitourinary symptoms.
