Case of Mike

Presenting Problem

From a Family Theory perspective, Mike a 14-year- old Asian American that immigrated to America at the age of 9 with his family: Mother, Father, and his older sisters Abby and Leesa, 18 and 20 respectfully. Due to the family’s immigration to America they are now living in a dual culture system, with traditional Asian values, such as “filal piety” (Kim, 2003, p. 389), as a foundation with western culture influences upon the younger generation; this is causing “Family Homeostasis” (Dykeman, 2016, p. 340) to become out of equilibrium.
