Presenting Problem: Deidre is a 21-year-old, never-married African American and Latina college female sophomore. She reports having chronic headaches and feeling “lost and alone,” She reports seeing her primary care physician for feelings of being tired, anxious, and tense who referred her to a counselor because he could find no physical cause for her headaches. She reports unresolved grief and loss, poor emotional connection with her mother, and reoccurring dreams of her unborn child’s “what ifs.”
